We're on to our second debate, and first Democratic Presidential Debate. What points did you find the most interesting? Did something resonate with you? Who do you feel is the strongest candidate? Discuss!
Personally, I this that the strongest candidates is either Sanders or Clinton. I like some of the point they both mention but one thing that stood out to me was Sanders comments on climate change/ global warming. I was really surprised to hear a candidate mention this. I think most people don't realize that this is a real issue and that we need to do something about it.
I agree with Salimatou, I think that Bernie Sanders was the strongest candidate. He hit on many important points. Also, I believe that he was the only candidate that discussed campaign finance reform (you can correct me if I'm wrong). He argued that money plays a huge part in political campaigns and it shouldn't. Third parties are not heard because of the monopoly the two major political parties hold in politics.
I agree with both salimatou and naydeline, Bernie was the strongest candidate and I agree with most of what he said. One of my favorite thing that he said was that the United States have more people in prison than any other country in the world and that maybe just maybe if we should stop spending all this money on jail and start spending it on education and jobs.
I am extremely torn between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. They had such outstanding ideas and conveyed their beliefs in a very sophisticated manner. I like that both are trying to do something about mass incarceration, college tuition, and immigration. Also, they are both supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement. One of my favorite parts of the debate was when Sanders said Clinton's email fiasco was irrelevant. I strongly agree. We need to start focusing on what actually matters. Another one of my favorite parts was when Clinton called out the difference between the GOP debate and the Democratic debate. Although there weren't always agreements throughout the debate, all politicians behaved in a professional manner (although Webb began to be kind of petty in terms of the time allotted to the other politicians). Also, both Sanders and Clinton brought up important issues. For instance, Sanders brought up climate change and Clinton brought up Planned Parenthood. Both of these are very important to me, which makes it harder to choose. Nevertheless, although they made spectacular points, I also though Martin O'Malley did well. He did a good job in answering all the questions and conveying his points.
